Bison provides star with extra bounce in NCAA championship
Note: This was issued as a news release following the NCAA championship game Monday evening.
Bison may have played a role in propelling the University of North Carolina to college's national basketball championship, according to the National Bison Association.
Colligate standout Tyler Hansbrough helped lead the UNC Tar heels to a national championship win in Detroit last night with his outstanding all-around play on the court. According to several recent news reports, bison is one of the foods that help the college athlete bring his A Game to every contest.
According to news reports, Hansbrough adheres to a diet rich in organic food, Omega 3 enriched eggs, bison and other high-protein foods.
Dave Carter, executive director of the National Bison Association, noted, "Good diets and good health are directly connected. It's great to see athletes who incorporate pure, wholesome foods like bison as a part of their training regimen. We've always known that bison is a winner. Last night, the evidence was on the court in the NCAA basketball finals."
Bison is a low-fat, high protein natural meat source. Research conducted at North Dakota State University has shown that the bison meat is a highly nutrient dense food because of the proportion of protein, fat, mineral, and fatty acids to its caloric value. Comparisons to other meat sources have also shown that Bison has a greater concentration of iron as well as some of the essential fatty acids necessary for human well being.
Carter noted, "We don't know what the future holds for Tyler Hansbrough, but he's definitely caught the attention of producers in the 'other' NBA; the National Bison Association."
